Who we are

Clarion is a Chrome extension and companion website operated under the brand "Clarion" at clarionapp.in. Reach us at hello@clarionapp.in.

What we collect

Account data — when you sign in with Google: email, name, and profile picture.
Usage data — feature usage counts (vibe checks, Smart Notes hours) so we can enforce plan limits.
Notes you save — only when you explicitly click "Save". Stored on Supabase with row-level security so only you can read them.
Settings — language preference, Travel Mode toggle, daily-reminder time. Synced via chrome.storage.sync.
Anonymous device ID — generated locally to prevent referral abuse. Never linked to your identity unless you sign in.

What we do NOT collect

Your YouTube watch history
Cookies from any site
Browsing history outside YouTube
Keystrokes or form inputs
Audio or video from your microphone or camera

Third-party services we use

Supabase — auth, database, and file storage. Hosted in the EU.
Google Gemini — AI model that generates verdicts, Smart Notes, and quizzes. Transcripts are sent for processing but are not retained by Google for training (per their API terms).
Polar.sh — payment processing for Pro / Premium upgrades. Card details never touch our servers.
YouTube Data — public video transcripts and metadata only.

Retention

We keep your saved notes for as long as your account is active. If you delete a note from the Vault, it is purged from our database within 24 hours. If you delete your account, all account data and notes are purged within 30 days.

Your rights

You can export all your data as JSON from your account dashboard. You can delete your account at any time — email hello@clarionapp.in with the subject "Delete my account" and we'll confirm within 24 hours.

Changes to this policy

We'll post any material changes here and notify signed-in users by email at least 14 days before they take effect.
